A hauntingly beautiful collection
of instrumentals based on the melodies of traditional
ballads and songs from England, Ireland, Scotland,
and Australia. Martin says, "These songs deal
with real life, and Love and Death are therefore
at their core; sometimes one, sometimes the other,
sometimes both inextricably intertwined. There is
love unrequited, love lost and found, and love feigned;
also love of one's native land, and even incest
and madness and murder."
This album has developed
a kind of cult status because of the incredible
guitar playing and the amazingly lush sound of the
recording. With Eric Aceto, violect and
Hank Roberts, cello.
"..Achingly sensitive."
